Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel topped the final practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix, which was shortened after Kevin Magnussen clouted the barriers at turn 7.
With about 15 mins remaining in the session, Magnussen lost the rear of his Renault, hitting the barriers at turn 7. With debris scattered all over the track, practice was red-flagged by the stewards. Soon after, it was decided not to restart the session.
The early end to FP3 allowed Vettel to hold on to his lead with a time of 1:13.919. Second in the timesheets was Max Verstappen, with Nico Rosberg only third fastest in the lead Mercedes, after being held back by the aforementioned Magnussen.
Kimi Raikkonen was fourth in the second Ferrari while Friday’s pacesetter Lewis Hamilton could manage no better than fifth.
Further back, Daniel Ricciardo was classified in sixth place, ahead of Carlos Sainz in the lead Toro Rosso.
Fernando Alonso ensured that McLaren stayed in the top 10, clocking the eighth fastest time of the session.
Sergio Perez and Felipe Massa completed the top 10.
The weather during FP3 were much cooler than on Friday, while a brief drizzle halfway through the session also rendered times meaningless.
