After topping the FP1 earlier today, Vettel continued his dominance by posting the fastest time in second practice session. The German posted a lap time of 1m 48.340s to beat the McLaren of Jenson Button by a comfortable margin of 3 tenths of a second.
Fernando Alonso set the pace for Ferrari, his laptime of 1m48.896s was third fastest time of the session. Mark Webber in the Red Bull was third fastest ahead of McLaren of Lewis Hamilton. Force India continued to impress in FP2 and it was Paul di Resta who beat his German teammate as he posted the 6th fastest time of the session.
Rosberg's lap time of 1m49.790s was 1.5 seconds slower than that of Vettel but it was enough for him to grab 8th place ahead of second Ferrari of Felipe Massa and leading Lotus of Romain Grosjean.
Miachel Schumacher was 11th fastest ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, Pastor Maldonado, Daniel Ricciardo and Sauber's of Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi. Bruno Senna and Jean Eric Vergne were 17th and 18th fastest respectively.
Among the backmarkers, Marussia of Timo Glock beat Caterham of Heikki Kovalainen and Charles Pic in the other Marussia beat the 2nd Caterham of Vitaly Petrov. HRTs of Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan as usual occupied the last two spots.
The second practice was quite different from FP1. First of all, the track remained dry throughout the session. Secondly, all drivers were able to set times on super soft tyres which proved out to be almost a second faster than the prime soft tyre. Thirdly, drivers used the dry track for some long runs on heavy fuels.
There were a few incidents, most notably by Bruno Senna whose Williams came to halt after he brushed the wall at turn 19. Absence of crane or escape roads nearby forced the race control to wave the red flags.
