_ Ever Since the customer car rules were modified for the 2010 season, Toro Rosso started building their own car and this will be their third time that they are doing it on their own, Late last season, They delivered an upgrade to their car which lifted its game considerably and were almost challenging for sixth before an late upgrade from Force India prevented the sister Toro Rosso Team achieving one of their best positions ever since their inception. For sure enough STR as a Team has improved considerably from their early days post the RedBull take over from then struggling Minardi Team, For once the regular back-markers which is now occupied by the new Teams,STR improved to a position and has moved up the ladder with the strong infusion of funds from what they call as Strong Partners and this shows in performance as well.
_Fresh into 2012, The saga continues and they march onto a new level with new aims. The aim is simple, Score points in all the races of 2012, For this they have have hired two new drivers from RedBull academy. who was loaned to HRT last season is now back for RedBull Team and so is Jean-Eric Vergne who is making his debut this season after some impressive performance in few Test outings.
The 2012 contender from STR features a Stepped up nose, similar to what other rivals have been using with an exception to Mclaren. And for once features more logos across the car. The Team also wish to finish 7th in the constructors championship.
The most surprising comments were actually from Team's technical director Giorgio Ascanelli who admitted that the Team was not aggressive enough over the new nose cone and he did not rule out an major update over the course of the season although a new chassis has been ruled out. He pointed out that the Team is using Twin floor and the car features aggressive updates of the components introduced late last season.
Meanwhile the much talking point would be on the drivers, who are regarded highly by the RedBull Team and both of them spending significant time of their life in the RedBull camp. Jean-Eric Vergne has admitted that his Teammate Danniel Ricciardo holds an edge as he is better prepared for the season having driven for HRT in 11 races last season. And also stating that he would be an ideal benchmark for him. Meanwhile his Teammate expressed his desire to be the Team leader
It is to be noted that Toro Rosso haven't set a lead driver for 2012. The Team is hoping to give more miles to both its driver especially Jean-Eric Vergne while also admitting to the fact that Caterham might challenge for a big mid-field battle
