Toro Rosso will have an unchanged driver line-up in 2017, having announced that they will retain the services of Daniil Kvyat.
While Carlos Sainz Jr’s seat has been confirmed for long, there was much speculation about Kvyat’s position at Toro Rosso. Amid a downward trend in performance following a demotion from Red Bull, Kvyat’s position in the team came under threat from GP2 frontrunner Pierre Gasly.
However, Toro Rosso have now confirmed that Kvyat will remain with the team in 2017.
"Great news!,’’ a jubilant Kvyat said. “I'd like to thank Red Bull, Dr. Marko and all the team for their support and the faith they have shown in me since I returned to the team earlier this year.”
“I'm very happy to stay with a team that feels like home to me. I'm really looking forward to continuing the hard work together in 2017 and I'm really aiming high. I will always be fully dedicated, giving my 200%, and I will be pushing as hard as I usually do, that's for sure. I'm delighted!"
Kvyat was recently linked with Force India, who have to fill the vacancy created by Renault-bound Nico Hulkenberg.
