Nico Rosberg claimed pole position for Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix, beating Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in today’s qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps.
Rosberg clocked a laptime of 1m46.744s, one tenth clear of what Verstappen managed in the lead Red Bull.
The Ferrari duo of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel pipped Daniel Ricciardo at the dead end of the session, qualifying in third and fourth places respectively.
Force India won their rivalry with Williams, with Sergio Perez qualifying sixth and Nico Hulkenberg a tenth adrift in seventh place.
Valtteri Bottas was eighth fastest, ahead of McLaren’s sole Q3 runner Jenson Button. Felipe Massa completed the top 10.
Lewis Hamilton did only four laps in total, aware that he would start at the back of the grid irrespective where he qualifies.
Fernando Alonso, meanwhile, was unable to set a laptime after his McLarens stopped on track with a technical issue.
