Nico Rosberg has been slapped with a 10 seconds time penalty and two penalty points on his superlicense after being held responsible for his crash with Lewis Hamilton at the Austrian GP.
On the final lap around Spielberg, Hamilton tried to go around the outside of Rosberg at turn two, only for the two drivers to make contact.
While Hamilton was able to continue and win the race, Rosberg limped home in fourth place with a damaged front wing.
After a lengthy briefing with the stewards, Rosberg has been deemed responsible for the incident, with Hamilton cleared of any wrongdoing.
10 seconds were added to Rosberg’s time, although that makes no difference to the final order. The German has also been handed two penalty points on his superlicense for the same collision.
Rosberg was also investigated for continuing the race with a damaged front wing but escaped with a reprimand.
