Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen began the Belgian Grand Prix weekend with a promising start but the feeling got difficult as the day went on.
The Finn was third fastest in the morning practice session and 0.799 seconds off Nico Rosberg’s benchmark time before the pace fell in Free Practice Two, ending the day in seventh place and 1.159 seconds adrift of Max Verstappen’s best effort.
"In the morning the feeling was pretty good,” Raikkonen said. “But then in the afternoon when I put the Super Softs on, I struggled to put a good lap together and I kept running off the circuit."
Raikkonen made a few adjustments to his SF16-H racer and still found the conditions tricky like his team-mate Sebastian Vettel but the Finn remains confident that they can find the right setup for qualifying and race day.
"For the long run we changed some things but I was still struggling,” he continued. “It was one of those days when you start well and then the feeling is not right anymore, but I'm sure we can find the right setup.”
"It will be tricky with the tyres, but it's the same for everybody.” Raikkonen concluded.
