McLaren’s sponsorship deal with Castrol appears to have been finalised, after the logos of the British oil company appeared on McLaren’s new t-shirt online.
McLaren’s long-standing partnership with ExxonMobil brand ended last year, when the American giant moved to rival squad Red Bull.
However, it immediately became clear that McLaren was in search of a suitable replacement, with BP emerging as the prime option.
Now, an image of Stoffel Vandoorne wearing the 2017 McLaren tee has emerged online, showing Castrol branding on the sleeves.
Castrol previously partnered with McLaren between 1979-80 - and has been actively involved in motorsport ever since.
A return to Formula 1 may serve as an effective marketing exercise for Castrol’s parent company BP, which saw its reputation tarnished after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
