_ Well, If you have been following the off-season news for a while now, You'd be knowing that McLaren is clearly on a roll and are keen to upset the success of RedBull. McLaren's ambition is clear, They don't want to be starting from the back in the Pre-Season Tests and end up catching the leaders like they have been doing for the last couple of seasons. But instead start as Leaders and win the championship. That's how MP4-27 seems to have be born. The car seems to have got a mixed reaction with many critics pointing out that MP4-27 resembles MP4-26, McLaren seems to be in no mood to listen to those claims as they insist that this new car is not a carryover of any sort from the MP4-26 but rather it's a fresh start
The sidepods have been redesigned to adapt to the new 2012 exhaust regulations and the most surprising part of all is the nose cone which features a gradual decrease rather then the stepped up nosecone also referred to as platypus style nosecone as featured in Caterham
It also has been said that all the major systems has been redesigned or has been updated and the only thing that has been carried over is the part of fuel systems and some other minor components
_Team principal Martin Whitmarsh has also stated that they have been not been cautious at all but still they found some good performance with the new car and that the Team has set itself some tough targets to get through the winter and during the course of season to clinch itself the championship and also that big upgrades for the car has already been planned
Team's Sporting director Sam Michael has stated that by the time he joined the Team, 90% of the work has been completed and that he had a little say in this new car and that his role is rather more at the track-side in helping out the race team get the best optimized result on this already refined machine.
Technical Director Paddy Lowe Commented on the fact that the regulations are trimming the Teams into narrow boxes and this does not allow a Team to make a radical step forward.
With the lot of hype surrounding this MP4-27, With the Team even announcing few days back that it is even ready to fight the cases if other Teams protested against the car. McLaren should be hoping that it has got its cards right. The relative performance of the car can be assessed only during the first test. But all the Teams add plenty of the components from now to the first race of the season.
The Platypus style nose cone did not feature in the MP4-27, This can come as a shock to the Caterham Team as they were expecting all the cars to feature that style of nose cone.
