_ i1 Super series also known as Indian Racing League has postponed its inagural season to 2013 due to the non availability of all the drivers. Its a single make, Single seater racing series and will feature drivers who has raced in F1 and other famous catergories. Nine Teams were representing each city and will compete for a huge sum of USD 2,000,000 prize money.
So far, Having launched the SR3 roadster in Abu Dhabi, Some of the series participants had a test run at the track and gave a thumbs up to the series. The series is based on City Based Franchise style format with each team to run One Indian and One International driver. 4 of the 9 Team owners were officially confirmed while talks with three other potential owners were in advanced stage
The Promoters of i1 Super Series were also supposed to spend USD 5 million on promotional works in the Inaugural season with the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has been named as Brand Ambassador
The Event was supposed to take off in a Grand Style in Malaysia but was later switched back to a later date at Doha, Qatar before moving on to other locations like Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and India. The postponement of this event will result in huge setback for Indian drivers who were wishing to race along some of the F1 drivers.
The Promoters have also stated that some Teams were not ready for the event as yet and asked for shifting of the dates.
We are expecting more development in the next few months and we can also add that a lot of people were already skeptic about this event
