It might not be a championship contender but all eyes were on VJM-05 when it was unveiled officially by the Force India Team this morning at Silverstone, For One this is the first time the Silverstone based squad was ever ready from the word Go. Ever Since Vijay Mallya brought the Spyker Team, There has been some delay or other over the new car, and for sure we can say that Force India is now ever ready then ever before.
The looks of the car is attractive even more partiotic then ever before. Many have been quoting the car as an all round package, If you are one of those who believe the looks of the car will determine the championship fate, then for sure you have got a winner here
The Mercedes powered Team has a stepped up nose similar to Caterham but is even more aggressive in the front with the Front wing, and revised side pods. The blade style roll hoop design is now gone but the car is looking like a complete package
The Ever improving Team has understandably set itself a higher target of 5th place in the championship. Team's Deputy Principal Bob Fernley jokingly admitted that finishing in 5th place last season would have made Vijay Mallya to set the target of 4th for this season and thus they were happy to settle in for 6th. Force India also realistic on the Target of 5th as according to them lot of Team qualify to take that place and it will be a tough task for them to achieve that
Team's Technical Cheif Andre Green said that Force India were very late to the party of Blown diffusers and that the ban on that will help the Team as they never really got on top of it. Also he mentioned that they are heading into a new direction with the focus is a lot more on Aerodynamics of the car. And Finally he mentioned the plan for the pre-season test by revealing that they will focus on different exhaust solutions to try and see which is better for the car
The Team's Drivers who are one of youngest pair on the grid were happy to see the car and both of them wanted to get more miles on this car. While Paul Di Riesta who was retained for this season admitted that Team has to continue the momentum it gathered end of last year to make a step forward this season while the Nico Hulkenburg who replaced Adrian Sutil stated that he is prepared for the season even as he spent one year on the sidelines.
This by far is one of the best launches for the Force India Team, In the last couple of Years, The Team had some excuses going into the winter and they were late to the party with the Team almost missing the first test. This time the odds aren't against them, A realistic target of 5th in the constructor championship dosen't look steep all of a sudden, Thanks to the well prepared nature of the Team during the course of rebuilding phase which according to the Team is now complete.
One has to wait and see if the ever improving team is still having the momentum or will they be forced to settle in for far less then what they hoped for.
