McLaren’s Jenson Button has been cleared to compete for the remainder of the German Grand Prix weekend at the Hockenheimring after a visit to hospital for precautionary checks.
The 2009 world champion completed just 16 laps during second practice and ended the day early after complaints to his team over an eye irritation issue.
The Briton was taken to the nearby Mannheim Hospital and was given the green light by the medical officials.
“On my way back to Hockenheim from the Mannheim hospital for an eye examination," Button explained on Twitter. "Foreign body found and removed. All good for tomorrow."
Button ended the day as he started it in eighth fastest during both practice sessions.
